Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 359 AM EDT Sat Oct 19 2019 Valid 12Z Sat Oct 19 2019 - 12Z Mon Oct 21 2019 ...Heavy snow for parts of the West and attention turns to the Tropics for the Southeast states... Tropical Storm Nestor is set to make landfall over the Florida Panhandle on Saturday morning. Given that much of the convection is displaced to the east of the center, the effects of the storm will also be experienced well to the east across much of the Florida Peninsula with widespread showers and storms on Saturday. From there it is expected to accelerate in forward motion and then become post tropical as it crosses the Southeast U.S. through Saturday night. Heavy rainfall is expected from northern Florida to southeast Virginia as a result, with aerial totals on the order of 2 to 4 inches likely that may lead to some flooding issues. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., a quick moving cold front crossing the Rockies and Intermountain West is expected to lead to locally heavy snow for the higher mountain ranges from the Cascades to the Colorado Rockies, with over a foot of snow possible for parts of the Cascades and the western Wyoming ranges. Moderate to heavy showers and storms are expected to develop across the southern Plains by late Sunday as this front exits the Rockies and crosses the Plains. D.
