Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 138 PM EST Fri Nov 8 2019 Valid 00Z Sat Nov 9 2019 - 00Z Mon Nov 11 2019 ...Second surge of Arctic air arriving this weekend across the Plains with dry conditions for most of the nation... The general upper level pattern over the continental U.S. for the weekend will be featured with an upper level ridge situated over the West Coast and a broad upper level trough east of the Rockies. This will support the passage of an Arctic front that will reach the northern Plains by Saturday night, with anomalously cold temperatures for early November behind the front from Montana to the Dakotas. Readings could be 20 to perhaps 30 degrees below normal for some areas by Sunday. Farther to the south across the central Plains and Midwest, there will be a brief return to warmer weather prior to the arrival of this next cold front. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., dry conditions are forecast across most of the continental U.S. from California to the Mid-Atlantic region for the upcoming weekend. The exceptions to this will be lake effect snow showers across northern Michigan, snow for the northern Plains, northern Rockies, and Cascades, and showers for parts of the Florida Peninsula.
