Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 122 PM EST Sun Nov 17 2019 Valid 00Z Mon Nov 18 2019 - 00Z Wed Nov 20 2019 ...Coastal Low will affect the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, and rain and mountain snow for the Northwest states... Satellite imagery shows a well-developed nor'easter situated off the Southeast U.S. coast on Sunday that is forecast to slowly track towards the northeast over the next couple of days. The center of the storm is forecast to remain offshore until reaching Nova Scotia. However, the effects will still be experienced near the coast and inland across southern New England through Monday night. The main hazards from the nor'easter will be coastal flooding from elevated high tides, and beach erosion from high surf. Some light sleet and freezing rain is likely across interior portions of the Northeast as moisture from the storm is advected inland, while the heaviest precipitation is expected to remain offshore. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., snow showers and a wintry mix are likely across parts of the Upper Great Lakes and Midwest through tonight as a disturbance tracks eastward across the region. Temperatures should remain below average for much of the eastern U.S., and above normal temperatures are expected across the Plains and extending to the West Coast. Temperature departures across the Great Basin and much of California will range from 10 to 20 degrees above normal, with some 90 degree high temperatures possible for the Desert Southwest. Across the Pacific Northwest, rain and mountain snow can be expected for the Cascades and northern Rockies. Hamrick/Mullinax Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
