A wave of low pressure over the Lower Mississippi Valley will move northeastward to just off Cape Cod by Sunday evening. The system will produce showers and thunderstorms ahead and along the associated front over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley/Tennessee Valley that will retreat to the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast overnight Friday and expand northward into parts of the Southeast overnight Saturday. The system will also produce rain over parts of the Middle Mississippi/Tennessee Valley on Friday evening that will move into parts of the Southeast/Southern Appalachians by Saturday morning. The rain will be locally heavy at times over parts of the Tennessee Valley, Southern Appalachians, and interior Southern Mid-Atlantic on Saturday into Saturday evening. Overnight Saturday, light snow and rain will develop over parts of the Ohio Valley and move into parts of the Lower Great Lakes by Sunday morning. The rain will move into parts of Southern New England on Sunday while rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of interior Northeast. The rain will end over the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday. Meanwhile, rain and snow will move off the Northeast Coast on Friday evening into night. Out West, an approaching front over the Pacific will aid in streaming moisture into the Pacific Northwest that will produce light rain over parts of the Northwest Coast and snow at the higher elevations of the Northern Intermountain Region starting late Saturday afternoon. The front will move onshore over the Northwest by Sunday morning that will quickly move inland to parts of the Northern Plains by Sunday evening. Light rain and higher elevation snow will move into parts of Oregon and Washington State and snow and lower elevation rain over parts of the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains by Sunday evening.
