Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 257 AM EST Sun Nov 24 2019 Valid 12Z Sun Nov 24 2019 - 12Z Tue Nov 26 2019 ...Snow returns to the West and gradually improving conditions for the East by Monday... An intensifying surface low situated over southern New England Sunday morning is forecast to reach Nova Scotia by early Monday in response to an amplifying upper level trough. Moderate to locally heavy rainfall is expected from the greater New York City area to eastern Maine, with the potential for 1 to 2 inches of rain before the low exits the region. Farther inland, winter weather advisories are in effect from northern Pennsylvania to northern Maine where a wintry mix of precipitation is expected. Winds will also increase across much of the Northeast U.S. as the low strengthens just off the coast. Improving conditions should return for the beginning of the work week. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., a developing cold front will cross the Rockies and Intermountain West, producing snow for the central and northern Rockies. This snow should also extend eastward across western Nebraska and northwest Kansas by early Tuesday as colder air moves into the region, and winter storm watches are currently in effect. Temperatures should be near to below average across the southeastern U.S. on Sunday and the Intermountain West on Monday, and above normal readings for Texas and the Midwest states.
