Low pressure just off the Northeast Coast will deepen as storm moves northward into Southeastern Canada by Wednesday morning. Snow and rain will begin to wind down as the system moves northward. Snow will develop over parts of the Northeast into parts of the Central Appalachians that will slowly taper off overnight Monday, ending over the Central Appalachians late Tuesday afternoon. Snow will also develop over Maine overnight Monday that will slowly taper off overnight Tuesday. In addition, rain/freezing rain will develop along the Maine Coast by Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. Rain over parts of the Mid-Atlantic will, likewise, slowly taper off overnight Monday. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over the Northern Plains will move eastward to the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley by Tuesday evening and into Northern New England by Wednesday. The associated upper-level trough will deepen over the Great Lakes into parts of the Northeast on Wednesday into Wednesday evening. The energy will aid in producing lake enhanced snow downwind from the Great Lakes and over the higher terrain of parts of the Central/Northern Appalachians from overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Another upper-level low off the California Coast will slowly begin to move eastward to Southern California by Wednesday evening. Moisture moving into California will aid in producing heavy rain along parts of the Central/Southern California Coast that will slowly taper off overnight Monday. On Monday evening, heavy rain will aid in producing scattered flash flooding mainly localized into Tuesday morning over parts of the Central California Coast. Overnight Tuesday, more moisture will move into Southern California producing rain over parts of the coast on Wednesday that will move inland to parts of the Great Basin/Southwest by Wednesday evening. Some snow will develop at the highest elevations of the Sierra Nevada mountains on Wednesday afternoon. Onshore flow off the Pacific will aid in producing rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest through Wednesday evening.
