Upper-level trough over California will move southeastward to the Lower Rio Grande Valley by Tuesday. The system will produce rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest/California into the Rockies. As the energy moves southeastward, the rain and higher elevation snow will move into Southwest/Southern California into the Central/Southern Rockies by overnight Sunday. By Monday evening, the rain and higher elevation snow will continue over parts of the Southwest and the Southern/Central Rockies. On Tuesday morning, rain and snow will develop over the Southern Plains. Meanwhile, a front extending from the Upper Great Lakes across the Northern Plains into parts of the Northern High Plains will move south and eastward to the Great Lakes to the Central Plains then banked up against the Rockies by Sunday evening. The southern end of the front will merge with a front moving out of the Southern Rockies associated with the aforementioned upper-level energy on Monday. By Tuesday morning, the front will extend from the Lower Great Lakes roughly southwestward to the Southern Plains/Western Gulf Coast. The front will aid in producing snow over parts of the Upper Midwest into the Northern High Plains on Sunday morning with the snow winding down overnight Sunday over parts of the Northern/Central High Plains. The snow will continue over the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley on Monday ending over the Upper Mississippi Valley overnight Monday. Over the Great Lakes the snow continues into Tuesday morning. Moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will move northeastward over the Southern Plains and Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes by overnight Sunday. Rain will develop overnight Sunday over parts of the Western Ohio Valley/Great Lakes that will increase in areal coverage over the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes into parts of the Central Appalachians by Monday morning. Moisture will also come off the Atlantic aiding in developing rain over parts of the Southeast and Southern Mid-Atlantic overnight Sunday. The rain will expand into the Northeast on Monday and continue over the area through Tuesday. Another front over Western Canada will move southeastward into the Northern High Plains/Northern Plains on Monday and moving into parts of the Central Plains by Tuesday morning. The front will aid in producing snow over parts of the Northern High/Northern Plains on Monday continuing into Tuesday.
