A strong low pressure system currently over the Central Appalachians will move northeastward to over the Western Atlantic off of Southeastern Canadian Coast by Saturday. The system will focus rain and convection over the Southeast with the WPC has issued a moderate risk of excessive rainfall due to expecting numerous flash flooding events. In addition, many streams may flood, potentially affecting larger rivers through Friday morning. Likewise, the SPC has issued an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Southeast through Friday morning as well. Winter weather will accompany the storm over the Northeast with heavy snow over parts of the Lower Great Lakes into Northern New England and rain/freezing rain over the area near the rain/snow line. The winter weather will produce hazardous driving conditions over the region. A second area of low pressure over the Upper Midwest will move southeastward to the Ohio Valley by Saturday evening. The system will produce snow over parts of the Upper Midwest into the Norther/Central Rockies that will southeastward into the Ohio Valley by Saturday. The snow will move into the Central Appalachians overnight Saturday. Onshore flow and upper-level energy will aid in producing rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest and snow over the Northern Intermountain Region into the Northern Rockies through Saturday evening. As the upper-level energy moves inland, the snow levels will lower over the Northwest with rain along the coast and snow at the higher elevations on Saturday into Saturday evening.
