Upper-level energy over the West Coast will move inland and weaken. The associated front will be strong enough to move from California/Great Basin across the southwestern U. S. to the Southern High Plains by Monday. The energy will aid in producing coastal rain and higher elevations snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest into parts of Northern California that will expand into parts of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and into parts of the Northern Rockies by late Saturday night. The snow and rain wane by Sunday morning. Light rain develops over parts of the Southern Rockies on Sunday expanding into the Southern Plains by Sunday evening. On Sunday, moisture over the Western Gulf of Mexico will race northward to the Upper Great Lakes were the moisture will slowly increase over the Plains and Mississippi Valley by Monday. Light rain will develop over parts of the Central Plains overnight Sunday and into the Middle Mississippi Valley and over the Central/Southern Plains by Monday. Meanwhile, high pressure over the Great Lakes to the Lower Mississippi Valley will move eastward off the Southeast Coast by Sunday evening into Monday. Upper-level ridging will aid in allowing temperatures over the Northern/Central High Plains to become 10 to 25 degrees above average on Saturday into Sunday. The dry airmass and strong surface winds of 15-30 mph with 20-30% RH will support elevated fire weather concerns. Therefore, a Red Flag Warning is issued for parts of the Central Plains.
