The low pressure system driving much of the weather across the lower 48 over the last 24 hours will continue to push eastward this evening and out to sea by Saturday morning. Another area of low pressure will develop along the lee-side of the Appalachians in North Carolina, and slowly move toward the South Carolina coast. The associated front extending across the Southeast will produce up to 2 inches of rain for parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley through the Sunday. Meanwhile, cold air will filter down into the Southern Plains, Midwest and Northeast tonight as the low pressure system moves out to sea and high pressure settles over the central U.S.. This will lead to much below average high temperatures over parts of Texas on the order of 20-25 degrees below average and 10-15 degrees below average for the Midwest and Northeast. As the high pressure center shifts east on Sunday so will the cold airmass. Highs will be 10-15 degrees below average for much of the Middle Mississippi Valley and northern New England.
