A fairly active weather pattern to affect large portions of the nation over the next 2 days. Heavy precipitation expected to affect much of central to southern California Sunday into early Monday as a well defined system pushing inland across this region. Ahead of this system, a broad region of precipitation will push northeast out of the Central to Southern Plains Sunday morning, across the Mid to Lower Mississippi Valley, Mid West, Lower Lakes, Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic Sunday into early Monday. Accumulating early spring snows possible on the northern edge of this precipitation area from the Mid West, Lower Great Lakes and into the northern Mid-Atlantic. Precipitation amounts and coverage will enhance Monday into Tuesday as surface low pressure deepens along the Mid-Atlantic coast. Heavy rains possible from the Mid-Atlantic into southern New England, while higher elevation heavy snows are possible inland across the Catskills, Adirondacks, Berkshires, Green and White Mountains. The storm system that brings heavy precipitation to central and southern California on Sunday will be pushing through the Southwest and into the Central to Southern Plains Monday into Tuesday. Additional moderate to heavy precipitation will develop over portions of the Central to Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley late Monday into Tuesday. In addition to the moderate to heavy precipitation threat, there is a slight risk of severe weather across portions of the Central to Southern Plains. A storm system diving southeast along the British Columbia coast will push into the Northwest on Monday. High elevation heavy snows possible through the Washington and Oregon Cascades, while lower elevations will have showery conditions. Temperatures will be cooling off by the beginning of the work week with the weekends above average temperatures replaced by below average temperatures on Monday. The wet weather from the Mississippi Valley into the east will keep temperatures below average Sunday and Monday. Above average temperatures will continue across the Gulf Coast, Southeast and Florida Sunday and Monday. Above average temperatures will be expanding significantly across all of the Plains on Monday with high temperatures 10-15 degrees above average.
