The core of the cold air will be across the mid section of the nation where record cold temperatures are possible from the Upper Mississippi Valley into portions of the Plains. In contrast, above average temperatures are expected over parts of Florida. The temperatures across Florida may set record warm values over the next two days for both morning lows and afternoon highs. Along with the cold temperatures across the mid section of the nation, accumulating snows are possible from Tuesday into Wednesday night in locations in and near the northern and central Rockies. Overnight on Wednesday, the snow will expand onto parts of the Central Plains. A stationary front will linger over Florida through Thursday. The boundary will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of Northern Florida, with the activity expected to continue through Thursday. Some of these thunderstorms will become severe on Tuesday. In addition, some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall capable of isolated flash flooding from Tuesday into Thursday morning.
