Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 217 PM EDT Fri May 29 2020 Valid 00Z Sat May 30 2020 - 00Z Mon Jun 01 2020 ...An end to the recent very wet weather pattern across the Central to Eastern U.S.... ...Severe weather threat across the Pacific Northwest on Saturday... ...Record high temperatures possible this weekend from the Northern Rockies into the Northern High Plains... A cold front moving off the east coast on Saturday will bring an end to the recent very wet weather pattern that has plagued large portions of the country from the mid section of the nation into the Southeast. Locally heavy rains possible along this front across coastal sections of the Carolinas on Saturday. Otherwise, much of the nation will see dry weather over the next two days. An exception to the mostly dry weather across the country will be along portions of the west coast from northern California into the Pacific Northwest. A strong upper level low will be moving northeastward across these areas Saturday into Sunday, setting the stage for heavy rains and potentially severe weather. Ahead of the area of heavy rains, record high temperatures are possible Saturday across the Northern Great Basin into the Northern Rockies and into the Northern High Plains on Sunday. Temperatures will be 20 to 25 degrees warmer than average across these areas. In contrast, below average temperatures are expected to push eastward from the Upper Mississippi Valley/Great Lakes region on Saturday and into the Northeast on Sunday.
