Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 AM EDT Tue Jun 02 2020 Valid 12Z Tue Jun 02 2020 - 12Z Thu Jun 04 2020 ...There is an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms over the Upper Midwest... A quasi-stationary front extending from the Great roughly westward to the Great Basin will be the focus for showers and thunderstorms over the Upper Midwest on Tuesday. The SPC has issued an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms over the Upper Midwest. The main threat from the severe thunderstorms will be large hail, damaging thunderstorm wind, and tornadoes. The front will slowly sink southward to the Ohio Valley on Wednesday producing showers and thunderstorms some of which may become severe. Rainfall rates could also be quite high with isolated localized flash flooding possible. Elsewhere, hit-or-miss showers and storms should be found across much of the South; from Texas to Florida. High pressure over the Southeast and Pacific Northwest through mid-week ensures an otherwise mostly dry pattern across the Lower 48. Upper-level energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern Plains through Thursday. Ziegenfelder Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
