A large area of high pressure will provide fine weather and cooler than normal temperatures for much of the Great Plains eastward to the Appalachians. Along the leading edge of the cooler air is a front moving south and eastward out of Central Canada moving across the Northeast settling over the Mid-Atlantic westward to another boundary over over the Northern High Plains by Friday. The system will produce showers and thunderstorms over the Great Lakes on Thursday evening. The front will trigger scattered showers over parts of the Northeast on Friday. Moisture pooling along a quasi-stationary front along the East Coast will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast coast. The WPC has issued a slight risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southern Mid-Atlantic. Heavy rain associated with the showers and thunderstorms will produce mainly scattered areas of flash flooding over parts of Northern/Southern Carolina on Thursday evening into Friday morning. Over the Pacific Northwest an deep upper-level trough will gradually move onshore across the region producing rain and isolated highest elevation snow through Saturday. Dry thunderstorms over parts of the Great Basin and the Southern Rockies/Southern High Plains along with low humidity and windy conditions will aid in producing conditions that favor wildfires over the region through Friday.
