A quasi-stationary front extending from the Upper Great Lakes southwestward to the Southern High Plains will slowly move eastward into the Great Lakes while the western end dissipates by Sunday evening. Moisture pooling along the boundary will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms from the Southern Plains to the Great Lakes through Sunday. The SPC and WPC has issued a slight risk of severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall, respectively, over the Southern Plains. The severe thunderstorm hazards will be large hail and damaging thunderstorm wind through Saturday morning. The associated heavy rain will produce mainly localized scattered areas of flash flooding, likewise through Saturday morning. An upper-level low over the Lower Great Lakes/Eastern Ohio Valley will slowly move eastward off the East Coast by Sunday evening. The upper-level energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic through Sunday. Upper-level ridging ahead of the upper-level trough associated the the aforementioned quasi-stationary front over the Upper Great Lakes will aid in allowing temperatures to become 10 to 15 degrees above average over Northern New England. The fire weather threat across the Southwest is on the wane, with one area of elevated fire weather conditions still present in Southern New Mexico through Saturday morning.
