A cold front moving into the Pacific Northwest is expected to bring some rain to the coastal ranges and Cascades Saturday and into the Northern Rockies Saturday night into Sunday. The boundary is expected to sink through the Great Basin with time, bringing a drier air mass to the area. The Storm Prediction Center expects the fire weather threat to remain low into Monday. The tail end of a front extending from the Upper Great Lakes southwestward to the Southern High Plains will pivot northward through the Central Plains Saturday toward the Northern Plains Sunday while the portion across Michigan will waver this weekend into Monday morning. Moisture pooling along the boundary will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms from the Plains and Midwest into the Great Lakes through Sunday. The Storm Prediction Center advises that severe thunderstorms are possible across the northern Plains Saturday and portions of the Central Plains and Midwest on Sunday. The Weather Prediction Center has a slight risk of excessive rainfall for the Southern Plains on Saturday. An upper-level disturbance over the Lower Great Lakes/Upper Ohio Valley will slowly move eastward off the East Coast by Sunday evening. Cool air aloft with this feature combined with daytime heating will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Mid-Atlantic through Sunday. Temperatures will be summerlike across the Southern Tier of the country, Midwest, Great Lakes, and New England into Monday. A few record highs are possible in Maine Saturday into Sunday where 90s are expected each afternoon. The Mid-Atlantic joins the heat Sunday into Monday as the disturbance aloft departs into the western Atlantic. Temperatures across the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains remain moderate into Monday as conditions remain unsettled through the period.
