Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 414 PM EDT Mon Jul 06 2020 Valid 00Z Tue Jul 07 2020 - 00Z Thu Jul 09 2020 ...Severe thunderstorms over the northern Plains and Mid-Atlantic this evening... ...Showers and storms will continue across the Deep South to the Southeast... ...Staying warm/hot in the Upper Midwest to the Great Lakes and Appalachians... A frontal boundary over the northern Plains will continue to act as a focus for showers and thunderstorms for the next couple of days. Thunderstorms are possible with the chance for some of them to become severe across parts of the northern Plains, Upper Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic tonight. The chance for severe weather continues through Wednesday for the northern Plains as the low pressure system to the west strengthens and marches east. To the south, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue across the Southeast into the Tennessee Valley. Some locally heavy rain may trigger flash flooding. Temperatures will be cooler than normal given the abundant cloud cover. Above average temperatures are expected from the Upper Midwest region through to the Appalachians tonight through Wednesday. Dry conditions over the Great Basin and desert Southwest means elevated to critical fire risk will continue through the short range period.
