Tropical moisture lingering around Florida and the Gulf Coast will produce showers and thunderstorms over Florida and the Central Gulf Coast through Wednesday. A weak front will cross the Upper Great Lakes slowly weakening and dissipating overnight Tuesday. A second front will follow the first moving across the Great Lakes Tuesday evening into Wednesday. These systems will produce light rain over parts of the Upper Great Lakes Monday evening into Tuesday. Overnight Tuesday, the light rain will move into the Lower Great Lakes and parts of the Northeast through Wednesday evening. Upper-level ridging will continue over the West through Wednesday. It will also continue to be dry for the Western U.S., with above normal temperatures continuing as the upper-level ridge continues to hold strong over the region. In addition, there are Air Quality Alerts in effect for portions of California owing to smoke from the ongoing wildfires. Red Flag Warnings are also in effect for portions of the Rockies and the High Plains given the very dry and breezy conditions. Of interest is the increasing activity in the Tropics, with Tropical Depression Gamma and a Tropical Storm Delta near Jamaica. The latter system is expected to develop into a hurricane over the next couple of days and head towards the Gulf Coast impacting area beyond this forecast period.
