A cold front will sweep eastward off the East Coast and the Gulf Coast by Saturday morning. For today and tonight, the front will bring rain to parts of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic, with heavy rain likely in parts of New England currently experiencing drought conditions. Cooler conditions in the wake of this front have produce widespread frost and freeze conditions across the Central Plains and Midwest this morning, and additional frost and freeze conditions are forecast into the Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians tonight. A low pressure system will sweep from the Northern Rockies into the Northern Plains from today into the weekend. Snow is likely in the Northern Rockies, with heavy snow in the highest elevations of western and central Montana and northern Wyoming. Additionally, the first notable snow accumulation of the season is expected in many areas from northeast Montana, into North Dakota and northern Minnesota, with a swath of 3 to 6 inches of snow forecast. Meanwhile, temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees above average across the Southwest and California with a continued fire weather threat. Red Flag Warnings are posted over parts of California through Friday morning, particularly in the northern half of the state. Elsewhere, scattered areas of elevated fire weather concerns are forecast across Southern California, the southern High Plains, and parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley on Saturday into Sunday.
