Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 152 AM EST Mon Nov 02 2020 Valid 12Z Mon Nov 02 2020 - 12Z Wed Nov 04 2020 ...Remarkably quiet weather pattern with precipiation limited to the northern corners... ...Cold air over the East gives way to a general warm up across the entire U.S. by Wed.... As the cold front clears the Northeast and Southern Florida this morning, anomalously cold air that is centered over the Mississippi River Valley spreads east with daily high temperatures will be 20 to 30 degrees below average from New England through the Central and southern Appalachians and Carolinas, where daily records may fall. A secondary trof/cold front moves through the Northeast Monday night into Tuesday with another quick shot of snow showers with some mixed rain/snow in the lower elevations. Strong upper-level ridge over the West will expand eastward and with clear skies, temperatures will remain 10-20 degrees above normal across the West but stretch over to the Plains and be 20-30 degrees above normal. Both locales may press some localized maximum temperature records Mon-Wed with the core heat shifting eastward by each day. By early Tuesday, some respite will occur as an active moisture stream and flattening overall upper-level pattern will help direct moisture/maritime cold fronts across the Western Washington into Northwest Oregon. While the focus/best rains will be directed north into BC, this is the start of a changing pattern for later in the week. Gallina Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
