Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 300 PM EST Mon Nov 02 2020 Valid 00Z Tue Nov 03 2020 - 00Z Thu Nov 05 2020 ...Quiet weather pattern continues with notable precipitation limited to the northern corners... ...Cold air over the East gives way to a general warm-up across almost the entire U.S. by Wednesday... Dry and warm weather will be the main story across most of the U.S. through midweek. Warmer than average temperatures are forecast for the western and central CONUS, with highs of 10 up to 30 degrees above normal, with those highest anomalies across the Northern/Central Plains. Record high temperatures could be scattered across California, the Desert Southwest, Great Basin, and into the Plains over the next couple of days. Meanwhile over the East, upper-level troughing should lead to cool conditions continuing tonight. Temperatures are expected to moderate on Tuesday from the Southeast to Mid-Atlantic; however, the Northeast should remain cold. A frontal system moving through tonight and Tuesday should help cause additional rain and snow showers in the Northeast. Several inches of snow could fall in the higher elevations of the Adirondacks and into northern Vermont. Further warming is expected on Wednesday as the trough shifts farther east into the Atlantic. Precipitation will spread southward from British Columbia into the Pacific Northwest for the next couple of days due to a persistent moisture plume and a series of cold fronts passing over the area. Marginal Risks of excessive rainfall are in place as rain totals could cause runoff issues. Elsewhere, only isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast over the Central Great Basin, and some showers may develop over southern Florida by Wednesday.
