Tropical Storm Eta, which is currently moving through the northeastern Gulf of Mexico, will enter into northern Florida and exit into the Atlantic today. Windy conditions, as well as scattered to isolated thunderstorms are likely across the Peninsula as a result. Moderate to heavy rain will let up later into the evening as the storm moves into the Atlantic. A low pressure system, currently draped over the East Coast, will move offshore today, but not before dumping heavy rain over the Mid-Atlantic. There's a Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall leading to Flash Flooding over the Carolina coast as the heaviest bands of rain push through that region today and tonight. Elsewhere, a potent low pressure system will dive into the Pacific Northwest on Friday. This system will produce strong winds along the coast tonight as it spreads heavy rainfall along the coast. Heavy high-elevation snow is a concern for the Cascades and Northern Rockies over the next few days. Snow totals of 1-2 feet are likely for many of these areas, but especially the Cascades where some peaks may see up to 3 feet by Sunday morning. High wind warnings are in effect for parts of the Pacific Northwest. Kebede Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
