An area of deep low pressure and an associated strong cold front will slowly move away from the Northeast portion of the country. The SPC has issued a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Lower Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic/Southern New England on Sunday evening into Monday morning. The primary hazard with the severe thunderstorms will be severe wind gust. The system will also produce rain over the Upper Great Lakes and the rain will change over to snow by Sunday evening/Sunday night. The rain will move into the Northeast overnight Sunday as snow develops over parts of the Lower Great Lakes and the Central Appalachians. The snow will dwindle to snow showers over parts of the Northeast on Monday. The snow will produce hazardous driving conditions. In addition, the deep low will aid in producing high wind over parts of the Great Lakes into the Northeast. High Wind Warnings are up over the area, but will slowly end from west to east by early Monday morning. High profile vehicles will need to be careful with the strong wind. The aforementioned front moves off most of the East Coast overnight Sunday. The front will then linger over the southern portion of Florida through Tuesday. The boundary will produce showers and thunderstorms over the area through Tuesday. Onshore flow will aid in producing rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest and parts of California. Snow will also extend over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region/Northern Rockies. The snow levels will rise on Monday. However, the precipitation will slowly come to an end by Tuesday as the onshore flow ends. The snow will aid in producing hazardous driving conditions. Meanwhile, dry weather will continue in the central CONUS. Gusty wind could aid in producing Elevated Fire Weather conditions over the Central/Southern Plains that will be waning on Monday.
