An area of low pressure is forecast to swing through the Ohio Valley and Lower Great Lakes tonight, before redeveloping along the New England coastline later on Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms will be plentiful ahead of the system and linger along the immediate East Coast and southeastern states on Thanksgiving. Speaking of Thanksgiving, the rest of the country will enjoy a rather quiet weather patter this Turkey Day. Widespread high temperatures around 10 degrees above average will be found east of the Rockies, with below average temperatures across the western United States. A few places in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Ohio Valley could wake up to record warm minimum temperatures on Thursday. By Friday, an approaching cold front combined with increasing moisture along the western Gulf of Mexico could lead to heavy rain across southeast Texas and southern Louisiana. At the moment, 2 to 4 inches of rain is possible in and around the Houston metro region. This amount of heavy rain could cause isolated flooding concerns as we enter the last weekend of November.
