Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 256 AM EST Thu Nov 26 2020 Valid 12Z Thu Nov 26 2020 - 12Z Sat Nov 28 2020 ...Showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Western/Central Gulf Coast... ...An overall tranquil Thanksgiving on the way with widespread above-average temperatures east of the Rockies... A front extending from the Lower Great Lakes roughly southwestward to the Central Gulf Coast will move off the Northeast/Northern Mid-Atlantic Coast by Thanksgiving evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary along the East and Gulf Coasts on Thanksgiving. The front will linger over the Southeast on Friday producing showers and thunderstorms along and near the boundary. Meanwhile, another boundary will move southward from the Central Rockies to the Western/Central Gulf Coast by Friday. The northern end of the front will move off most of the East Coast by Saturday, while the western end of the boundary lingers over the Western/Central Gulf Coast. Moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will overrun the front aiding in producing showers and thunderstorms over the area through Saturday. Areas of heavy rain may accompany some of the thunderstorms. In the meantime, upper-level energy over the Northwest will move southeastward to the Southern High Plains by Saturday. The energy will aid in producing light rain and snow showers over parts of the Northwest through Friday morning. On Friday, the upper-level energy will aid in producing snow showers over parts of the Southwest and Southern Rockies. The light snow will move to parts of the Southern High Plains by Saturday. Furthermore, moisture coming off the Pacific will move into the Pacific Northwest overnight Friday into Saturday producing rain with snow developing over the higher elevations early Saturday morning.
