Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 208 PM EST Thu Nov 26 2020 Valid 00Z Fri Nov 27 2020 - 00Z Sun Nov 29 2020 ...Heavy rain and flash flooding possible across portions of the western Gulf Coast Friday and Saturday... ...Critical fire weather across portions of southern California... ...Widespread above normal temperatures found throughout the northern and eastern United States... The biggest weather story heading into the final weekend of November will be the threat of heavy rain and flash flooding across southeast Texas and southern Louisiana. A stalled frontal boundary combined with increasing moisture from the western Gulf of Mexico will fuel showers and thunderstorms across the region beginning on Friday. By Saturday, total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches will be possible, with locally higher amounts. Due to such heavy rain falling in a relatively short amount of time, isolated flash flooding will be a possibility. The other hazardous weather concern over the next few days will be across southern California. Low relative humidity and gusty winds, thanks to a strong high pressure system located over the Intermountain West, is forecast to lead to critical fire weather. This means conditions are ripe for wildfires to possibly spread uncontrollably. Elsewhere across the country, above normal temperatures are easy to find over the northern and eastern United States through Saturday evening. These temperatures are a welcome sight given the time of year, with comfortable highs in the 50s and 60s mostly everywhere besides Texas (cooler due to clouds and rain) and Florida (highs into the 70s and 80s).
