A slow moving frontal boundary, which is currently draped along the northern Gulf Coast, will continue to bring heavy rain and scattered to isolated thunderstorms to the region tonight. Low pressure will develop along along the Texas portion of the front tomorrow and begin moving east. This low pressure system will become the focus for the heavy rain and thunderstorms along the Gulf Coast as it traverses the Lower Mississippi and Southeast through Sunday. Slight Risks of Excessive Rainfall leading to Flash Flooding are in effect for parts of the eastern Texas coast and the Lower Mississippi Valley tonight through tomorrow. This system is forecast to strengthen as it moves up the spine of the Appalachians beginning Sunday night. Cool air will filter in on the backside of the developing system over the Southern plains tomorrow. This cool airmass will weaken slightly as it spreads east into the Lower Mississippi Valley on Sunday. Above average temperatures will spread over the Northern/Central Plains and Upper Midwest tomorrow as high pressure builds in the area. Dry and windy conditions will promote the Critical Fire Weather Risk across southern California tonight while an Elevated risk will linger over parts of the area tomorrow.
