A slow-moving low pressure system will be the focus for heavy rain and thunderstorms across the Deep South and East Coast through Monday. An area of low pressure developed along a surface boundary over southern Texas this morning. This low will go on to pull warm and moist Gulf moisture up into the Gulf Coast and East Coast over the next couple of days. Heavy rain and scattered to isolated thunderstorms will impact southern Texas through the Lower Mississippi Valley tonight. A Slight Risk of Heavy Rainfall leading to Flash Flooding is in effect from the east Texas coastline into the southwest coast of Louisiana. As the low pressure system moves north and east tomorrow, it will spread heavy rain and thunderstorms into the Southeast and Tennessee Valley. This system will strengthen considerably on Monday and draw in colder air on its backside. Heavy snow is possible over parts of the Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians as a result. A relatively quiet pattern is expected for the West over the next couple of days. Elevated Fire Weather Risk with the possibility for locally critical risk is in effect for much of southern California through Monday as surface winds continue to pose a threat to the area.
