Upper-level energy and cold air flowing over the Great Lakes will help produce lake effect snow downwind from the Great Lakes through Sunday morning. Heavy lake effect snow will develop downwind from Lakes Ontario and Erie, with an additional 8 to 18 inches of snow. Furthermore, rain and snow over Northern New England will change over to all snow on Saturday before ending overnight Saturday. The snow will aid in producing hazardous driving conditions over the area. Meanwhile, a front moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest will move inland to the Lower Great Lakes to the Western Gulf Coast/Southern Plains by Monday. The storm will produce coastal rain and higher elevation snow over the Pacific Northwest and Northern California and snow over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region. On Saturday, the snow will move into parts of the Great Basin and the Northern Rockies. Overnight Saturday into Sunday, the rain and snow will end over the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. Additionally, snow will develop over parts of the Northern Plains into parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley on Sunday morning. On Sunday evening, the snow will move into the Upper Great Lakes while rain develops over parts of the Western Ohio Valley. The rain and snow will move into the Lower Great Lakes, while rain moves into the Southern Ohio and Tennessee Valleys on Monday. The snow will aid in producing hazardous driving conditions. Another front will move into California on Sunday evening, moving inland to the Southwest by Monday. The system will produce rain and higher elevation snow over California and snow over the Great Basin into the Central/Southern Rockies by Monday. Likewise, the snow will aid in producing hazardous driving conditions. Elsewhere, there will be widespread hard freeze over parts of the Central and Eastern gulf Coast into the Northern Florida Peninsula on Saturday morning and overnight Saturday into Sunday.
