A storm moving onshore over Central/Southern California will move eastward to the Central Rockies on Tuesday, then move northeastward to the Middle Mississippi Valley by Wednesday. The system will produce rain and higher elevation snow over Central/Southern California through Monday night. Snow also develops over parts of the Great Basin into the Central Rockies on Monday. On Monday evening into Tuesday, snow develops over parts of the Southwest, Central/Northern Plains, and parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley. Also, overnight Monday, rain will develop over parts of the Southern Plains, moving into parts of the Central Plains on Tuesday. By Tuesday evening, the snow will move into parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley and parts of the Western Ohio Valley. The snow moves into the Great Lakes, while the snow and rain end over the Southwest and the snow over the Central Rockies overnight Tuesday. The snowfall totals will be 12 to 24 inches over parts of the Great Basin/Central Rockies with the storm. Furthermore, on Tuesday into Tuesday night, rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Central Plains and move into parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley. The snow will measure 4 to 6 inches with isolated 8 inches over parts of the Midwest. The snow and rain/freezing rain will contribute to hazardous driving conditions. Meanwhile, Low pressure over Southeastern Ontario, Canada and the associated front extending from the Lower Great Lakes to the Central Gulf Coast will move eastward off the East Coast overnight Monday. The storm will produce snow and rain over the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley, snow lingering over parts of the Northern Plains. Rain will also develop over parts of the Tennessee Valley. Rain and snow will move into parts of the Northeast on Monday, with rain over the Central/Southern Appalachians. Overnight Monday, snow will develop over parts of the Central Appalachians. Trailing upper-level energy will help produce additional snow over parts of Michigan into parts of the Northeast through Tuesday afternoon. The snow will contribute to hazardous driving conditions over the region. Elsewhere overnight Tuesday; an approaching front over the Pacific will produce rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest.
