Interior snow and coastal rain will begin to wind down across the Northeast tonight, as a low pressure system drifts off into the northern Atlantic. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for parts of the Northeast and Appalachians as a result. Snow and rainfall effects are likely to be marginal. Temperatures across Florida will be below average through Tuesday as an area of high pressure settles over the Southeast. Meanwhile, in the West, an incoming area of strong low pressure will bring another round heavy snow to the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, California and the Northern Rockies on Monday. Rainfall will impact the lower elevations through Tuesday. Precipitation will pick up again tonight for the Cascades down to the Sierra as the new system arrives along the Northwest coast. Snowfall will spread into the Northern Rockies on Monday, then wind down over the Sierra and southern Cascades on Tuesday. Snowfall will begin to wind down over the Northern Rockies later on Tuesday as the upper-level energy shifts east and develops a new low over the Southern Plains. Additional snow between 1-2 feet are likely across parts of the Cascades and Northern Rockies while 8-12 inches are expected over the Sierra. Locally heavier totals are possible. Another system will arrive in the Pacific Northwest late on Tuesday, and could bring yet another round of heavy snow to the region through Wednesday.
