A developing area of low pressure will bring snow to the Rockies and Northern/Central Plains this morning. Snow will shift southward into foothills of the Central/Southern Rockies as the associated upper-level feature begins to cut off into a closed system. Heavy snow is possible over parts of the Southern Plains extending from southeastern Colorado to eastern New Mexico and northern Texas from Saturday evening into Sunday. A swath of 4 to 8 inches of snow are expected over the aforementioned areas, where Winter Storm Watches, Advisories and Warnings are currently in effect. Temperatures will drop drastically over much of Texas and eastern New Mexico on the backside of the system on Sunday. Departures from normal are expected to be on the order of 20-30 degrees below average. Rain and snow is likely to spread into the Southeast by Monday. Meanwhile, another Pacific system will bring rain and snow to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday while the Northern Plains experience a warm-up.
