A strong storm over the Northeast will slowly move northeastward into Southeast Canada by Sunday. The system will produce snow and rain over parts of Maine on Saturday night before changing over to only snow by Sunday morning. The snow over Northern Maine will be light through Sunday night. Upper-level energy and cold air flowing over the Great Lakes will produce snow downwind from the Lakes, with the heaviest snow downwind from Lakes Erie and Ontario. additionally, upslope snow will develop across the mountains of Northern New England. The lake effect and the retreating storm have aided in posting Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories for parts of the Northeast through Sunday. Additionally, the Upper-level energy will help produce light snow over much of the Midwest through Sunday evening. While widespread heavy accumulations are not expected, these snow showers may become locally intense †resulting in reduced visibilities and hazardous driving conditions. Another system moving southward out of Central Canada will aid in producing more light snow over parts of the Upper Great Lakes on Monday. In the West, dry and unseasonably warm conditions are expected to continue across much of California, Nevada, and Arizona through Sunday. Another day of record-setting temperatures is forecast for the rest of Saturday across portions of Southern California. On Sunday, the record-setting temperatures will move to parts of Central California. The warm and dry conditions, along with gusty winds, continue to prompt Red Flag Warnings for parts of Southern California as well. A High Wind Watch is in effect for portions of Northern and Central California through Monday. A front moving onshore over the Northwest on Sunday will advance southeastward to the Southern Plains to the Southwest by Monday evening. The system will produce rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest on Sunday, ending overnight Sunday. Snow will develop over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region and the Northern Rockies on Sunday evening. The snow will expand into the Northern High Plains overnight Sunday, as well.
