Energy over the Four-Corners Region will help produce snow from the Sierra-Nevada Mountains into the Great Basin, Central/Southern Rockies, and the Southwest, with rain over the lower elevations of the Southwest and Southern California on Saturday evening. The snow will wane slightly overnight Saturday into Sunday. As the upper-level energy moves farther inland into the Southwest U. S., the snow and lower-elevation rain will increase over the Great Basin, Southwest, and Central/Southern Rockies overnight Sunday into Monday before weakening a little on early Monday morning. Additional upper-level energy moves into the Southwest U. S., increasing the snow and lower-elevation rain on Monday. The snow will contribute to hazardous driving conditions. Meanwhile, a front moving southward from the Upper Midwest and the upper-level dynamics associated with the energy moving out of the Central Rockies will couple to help produce snow over parts of the Midwest on Saturday evening that will move eastward into the Upper Great Lakes/Ohio Valley by Sunday morning. The snow will wane overnight Sunday into Monday morning over the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. Furthermore, an area of low pressure moves out of the Central Rockies overnight Saturday, pulls moisture northward over the Southern Plains aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern Plains and Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley. The SPC has issued a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Southern Plains on Sunday into Monday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will advance into parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys on Monday. Along the rain/snow line, rain/freezing rain areas will develop across the Central Plains, Middle Mississippi Valley through Sunday evening. As the area of low pressure crosses the Southern Plains into the Middle Mississippi Valley overnight Sunday into Monday, areas of freezing rain will develop along the rain/snow line again across the Central Plains, Middle Mississippi Valley, and Ohio Valley on Monday. Additionally, on Monday, light snow will develop over parts of the Northern/Central Plains into the Middle Mississippi Valley and western Ohio Valley. By Monday evening, rain moves into parts of the Southeast and southern Mid-Atlantic. Rain and freezing rain will move into parts of the Central Appalachians and Northern Mid-Atlantic. In the meantime, a front will begin to move onshore over the Pacific Northwest on Sunday morning, moving southward along the West Coast and into southern California by Monday. The system will produce coastal rain and higher elevation snow in Washington and Oregon that will expand into parts of northern California on Sunday afternoon into evening. Overnight Sunday, rain and higher elevation snow will expand into central/southern California and snow into parts of the Northern Intermountain Region and the Great Basin.
