A front extending from the Northeast to a wave of low pressure over the Middle Mississippi Valley will move eastward to New England and the Mid-Atlantic and stalling by Thursday as the wave of low pressure aids in pushing the front off the Eastern Seaboard by Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary from the Northeast to the Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley. Some of these storms may become severe over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee/Lower Mississippi Valleys. Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys, Central/Southern Appalachians, and Lower Mississippi Valley through Thursday morning. The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes. Furthermore, there will be heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Mid-Atlantic/Central Appalachians and a second area over parts of the Tennessee Valley/Southeast through Thursday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. On Thursday, the threat of severe thunderstorms moves westward over the Plains as a wave of low pressure will move out of the Northern/Central Rockies to the Central/Southern Plains by Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop ahead of the Plains' boundary to the Mississippi Valley. Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Southern Plains from Thursday into Friday morning. The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes. There will also be an increased risk of hail two inches or greater and severe thunderstorm wind gusts 65 knots or greater over the region. Moreover, there will be heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall with these thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley from Thursday into Friday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. Meanwhile, upper-level ridging and dry soils will combine to allow temperatures to rise to record levels over parts of Texas, with high temperatures in the upper nineties to low-hundreds on Wednesday and Thursday. Late Thursday afternoon, a boundary will move onshore over the Pacific Northwest and move inland to the Northern High Plains, producing light rain over the area by Friday. Furthermore, upper-level ridging will expand westward over California by Friday. Upper-level ridging and dry soils will combine to allow temperatures to rise to record levels over parts of California and the Southwest, with high temperatures in the upper-nineties to low-hundreds and low-hundreds to over 110 degrees on Friday.
