Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 259 PM EST Sat Nov 12 2022 Valid 00Z Sun Nov 13 2022 - 00Z Tue Nov 15 2022 ...Lake-effect snow downwind from the Great Lakes Saturday night into Sunday... ...Below average temperatures for much of the lower 48 through Monday... ...Freeze Waning and Freeze Watch across parts of the Southern Plains, Lower Mississippi Valley, and Tennessee Valley... There is a lot of uncertainty with the frontal structure and placement for this forecast cycle. Upper-level energy over the Midwest will produce lake-effect snow downwind from Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, and Erie from Saturday evening into Sunday evening. The snow will result in reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions. The energy will also produce light rain over parts of the Northeast into the Central/Southern Appalachians, ending overnight for the Central/Southern Appalachians. The rain will end over the Northeast by Sunday evening. Meanwhile, upper-level energy moving across the West and Northern Rockies will produce light snow over parts of the Great Basin and Northern Rockies starting on Saturday evening into Sunday. By Sunday evening, snow will develop over parts of the Central/Southern Rockies in the Central/Southern High Plains through Monday. Furthermore, light snow will develop over parts of the Northern Plains into the Upper Mississippi Valley from Sunday evening into Monday. The snow will result in reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions. Moreover, cold high pressure over the Southern Plains will produce temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average over the region. The low temperatures have prompted Freeze Waning and Freeze Watch across parts of the Southern Plains, Lower Mississippi Valley, and Tennessee Valley from Saturday evening into Sunday morning.
