Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 254 AM EST Sat Nov 26 2022 Valid 12Z Sat Nov 26 2022 - 12Z Mon Nov 28 2022 ...There is a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Western/Central Gulf Coast through Sunday morning... ...Heavy snow for the Cascades and Northern Rockies on Sunday... On Saturday, a deep upper-level low over Texas will move northeastward off the Northeast Coast by Monday. The circulation around the upper-level low will aid in streaming moisture off the Western Gulf of Mexico, producing showers and thunderstorms over the Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley with heavy rain. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Western/Central Gulf Coast through Sunday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. On Sunday, the excessive rainfall threat ends over the region. However, the rain moves into the Ohio/Middle Mississippi Valleys and the Central Appalachians by Sunday morning and continues northeastward to the Great Lakes, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic by Sunday afternoon/evening. Overnight Sunday, the higher elevations of Northern New England will turn over to snow. On Monday morning, light rain lingers over parts of the Central Appalachians and the northern Mid-Atlantic. The snow will result in reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions. Furthermore, the showers and thunderstorms will move into the Southeast overnight Saturday and the Carolinas on Sunday. The showers and thunderstorms will end by Sunday evening. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over the Pacific Northwest into the Northern Rockies will move southeastward to the Tennessee Valley by late Sunday night. The energy will produce snow over the higher elevation of the Pacific Northwest into the Northern Intermountain Region on Saturday, expanding into the Northern Rockies by Saturday evening. Furthermore, another front will move onshore overnight Saturday over the Pacific Northwest, producing more rain and higher-elevation snow. The rain will continue along the coast through Monday morning as snow continues over the Cascades into the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains. The snow will result in reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions. Ziegenfelder Graphics available at https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
