Deep low pressure over the Western Ohio Valley will move northeastward into Southeastern Canada by Friday. On Thursday, the pressure gradient associated with the low will produce strong wind over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys and Great Lakes. Due to the strong wind, Wind Advisories are over the region into Thursday evening. The storm will also produce rain over parts of the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes that will move into the Northeast overnight Thursday. In addition, the storm will pull cold air over the Upper Midwest and develop heavy snow over parts of the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley on Thursday. In Addition, the system will produce moderate to heavy snow over the Upper Great Lakes. Moreover, rain moving into the Northeast will change to snow starting Thursday afternoon and move into Northern New England. Along the rain/snow line, light rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Upper Great Lakes and the Northeast. The snow will result in reduced visibility/hazardous driving conditions and ice may cause hazardous road conditions over the region. On Thursday, the threat of severe thunderstorms will be a Moderate Risk of strong to severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley and along the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast, and over the Southeast on Friday. Additionally, a Moderate Risk of excessive rain will be over Eastern Gulf Coast/Southeast on Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, upper-level energy over the Rockies will create light snow over parts of the Northern/Central Rockies and Northern/Central High Plains. By Thursday evening, the light snow will move over parts of the Southern Rockies and High Plains, then end by late evening. Elsewhere, a front moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest will move inland to the Northern High Plains and southward to California by Saturday. Overnight Thursday, the system will begin to produce coastal rain and higher elevation snow that will extend inland to parts of the Northern Intermountain Region by Friday late morning.
