Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 347 PM EDT Mon Apr 10 2023 Valid 00Z Tue Apr 11 2023 - 00Z Thu Apr 13 2023 ...There is a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Southern Plains... ...Onshore flow will create showers and thunderstorms over Florida... ...Onshore flow and a front will produce rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest with lowering snow levels... On Monday afternoon, upper-level energy over the Central/Southern Plains will move southward to the Central Gulf Coast and form an upper-level low overnight Tuesday. The upper-level energy will produce showers and severe thunderstorms over parts of the Plains. Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over the Central/Southern Plains through Tuesday morning. The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes. Additionally, cold high pressure over the Mid-Atlantic will allow temperatures to dip slightly below average, prompting Frost Advisories over parts of the Mid-Atlantic into the Central Appalachians until Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, as the upper-level energy settles over the Central Gulf Coast, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Western/Central Gulf Coast through Wednesday evening. In addition, onshore flow will keep producing showers and thunderstorms over the Florida peninsula through Wednesday. Moreover, onshore flow off the Pacific and a front moving onshore will create rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest through late Monday afternoon. As the boundary passes, the snow level will lower over the Northwest producing higher-elevation snow overnight Monday into Tuesday. On Tuesday, snow will move into parts of the Northern Intermountain Region. By Wednesday morning, some areas will see the snow levels drop to near the coast over the Pacific Northwest. However, the snow levels will rise slightly as the day gets warmer over parts of the area. Additionally, the coastal rain will continue through Wednesday evening. Elsewhere, a front moving over Northern New England on Tuesday will produce light rain over parts of the Northeast and snow over the higher elevations during the overnight hours.
