Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 359 AM EDT Mon Jun 05 2023 Valid 12Z Mon Jun 05 2023 - 12Z Wed Jun 07 2023 ...There is a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southern High Plains through Wednesday... ...Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees below average over New England... ...Air Quality Alerts over parts of the Upper Great Lakes... Weak upper-level energy and moisture over the Southern Plains will produce showers and thunderstorms, creating heavy rain over parts of the Texas Panhandle and Northeastern New Mexico. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southern High Plains and Southern Rockies on Monday into Tuesday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. Moreover, the threat of excessive rainfall continues over the region from Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Furthermore, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Central Rockies into the Northern Intermountain Region on Monday and Tuesday. Likewise, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Central Gulf Coast into the Southern Appalachians/Mid-Atlantic. In addition, moisture trapped under the upper-level ridge and weak upper-level impulses over the Upper Midwest will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms over the area through Tuesday. Meanwhile, an upper-level low over New England moves slowly northeastward into Southeastern Canada. The upper-level low will create temperatures that will be 15 to 20 degrees below average over the region. In addition, the system produces scatted areas of rain and drizzle through Wednesday. Moreover, an upper-level low just off the California Coast will slowly move onshore over California producing showers and thunderstorms over the state through Wednesday. Additionally, tropical moisture over Florida will create showers and thunderstorms over the state through Wednesday. Elsewhere, wildfire smoke moving southward out of Canada and over the northern part of the country has triggered Air Quality Alerts over parts of the Upper Great Lakes.
