Upper-level impulses and moisture trapped under an upper-level ridge from the North Intermountain Region to the Upper Mississippi Valley and southward to the South Rockies to the Central Gulf Coast will produce showers and thunderstorms through Friday. Some of the showers and thunderstorms will create heavy rain over parts of Northeastern New Mexico, the Texas Panhandle, and Colorado on Wednesday. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southern Rockies, Southern High Plains, and Central Rockies on Wednesday into Thursday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. Another area of heavy rain will develop over parts of Montana and Wyoming, also on Wednesday. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Northern Rockies on Wednesday into Thursday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. On Thursday, the threat of excessive rainfall ends over the Southern Rockies, Southern High Plains, and Central Rockies. However, the threat of excessive rainfall continues over parts of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region/Northern Rockies from Thursday into Friday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. Moreover, an upper-level low over Southern California will slowly move inland to the Great Basin while weakening through Friday. As a result, the system will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the state and the Pacific Northwest/Great Basin through Friday. Additionally, a weak front moving from the Mid-Atlantic, Ohio Valley, and Middle Mississippi Valley southward to the Southeast to the Central Gulf Coast, Lower Mississippi Valley, and Central/Southern Plains by Friday.
