On Wednesday evening, a front extending from the Upper Mississippi Valley to the Southern High Plains will move eastward to the Lower Great Lakes/Mid-Atlantic to the Central Gulf Coast by Friday. The system will produce rain over parts of the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley on Wednesday evening, moving into the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley by Thursday and continuing eastward into Friday. Overnight Thursday, the rain will develop southward over the Tennessee Valley into the Central Gulf Coast. In addition, on Thursday evening, moisture from the Atlantic will stream into the Mid-Atlantic, creating rain over the region overnight Thursday into Friday. As the front moves eastward on Friday, rain moves into parts of the Northeast and extends southward into the Southeast by Friday evening. Meanwhile, upper-level ridging over the West Coast creeps eastward into the Plains by Friday. The upper-level ridging will allow temperatures to be 15 to 25 degrees above average over the western third of the country.
