Waves of low pressure will continue bringing moderate to heavy rainfall and mountain snow to the Northwest CONUS this weekend into early next week. Locally heavy rainfall may cause isolated instances of flash flooding along the coastal ranges of the Pacific Northwest this weekend. Thus, there's a Marginal Risk of Excessive Rainfall leading to Flash Flooding extending from coastal Washington down to the northern California coast through Sunday. Between 2-4 inches of rainfall are expected with locally higher amounts, especially over terrain through the end of the weekend. Elsewhere, shortwave energy moving through the Mississippi Valley will generate light rain/snow showers from the Northern Plains, across the Great Lakes and into the interior Northeast this weekend. Beneath the upper troughing over the northern tier will reside high pressure and southerly flow into the Great Plains. With this comes warmer temperatures for much of the Central U.S.. High temperatures in the upper 60s to low 80s will be 15-25 degrees above average for the Central/Southern High Plains. The arrival of one shortwave on the heels of another will support a quick rebound in temperatures for the Southeast this weekend.
