A weakening boundary and upper-level energy over the Upper Great Lakes will produce light snow over the western portion of Michigan s Upper Peninsula on Friday, tapering off on Saturday. Moreover, weak onshore flow will produce light rain and higher-elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest through Friday. A front will move across the Northwest on Saturday, racing eastward to the Northern Plains by Sunday. Heavy snow will develop over the Northern Cascades on Saturday into Sunday as the front moves over the area. Strong wind will develop the area as the front moves inland over the Northern Rockies, prompting a High Wind Watch on Saturday into Sunday. Snow will also develop over parts of the Northern Rockies from Friday into Sunday. Meanwhile, a front extending from the southern Mid-Atlantic to the Southern Appalachians southwestward to the Central Gulf Coast slowly moves southeastward off the Southeast Coast by Saturday. The front lingers along the Central Gulf Coast on Saturday into Sunday. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico overruns the boundary, creating rain from the Mid-Atlantic southwestward to the Western Gulf Coast through late Friday night. On Saturday, the rain extends from the Southeast to the Central Gulf Coast and the Western Gulf Coast through Sunday morning.
