A front moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest moves eastward to the Midwest by Sunday evening while weakening. The system will produce coastal rain and higher-elevation snow over parts of the Northwest through Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, the snow will be heavy over parts of the Northern Cascades. Moreover, snow will develop in lighter amounts over parts of the Northern Rockies. In addition, the storm will create strong wind over parts of the Northern Cascades into the Northern Rockies, prompting High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories on Saturday into Sunday morning. Furthermore, onshore flow will keep rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest Sunday night into Monday. Upper-level energy over the Upper Great Lakes will produce light snow over the western portion of Michigan s Upper Peninsula on Saturday, tapering off by Saturday evening. As the system from the Northwest moves eastward into the Upper Midwest on Sunday, the associated warm front will change any lingering snow over the Upper Peninsula into rain. The rain will end by Sunday evening. Meanwhile, a front lingers along the Gulf Coast on Saturday into Sunday will have moisture from the Gulf of Mexico overrunning the boundary, creating rain from the southern Mid-Atlantic southwestward to the Central Gulf Coast through late Sunday. On Saturday, the moisture from the Western Gulf Coast will stream into the Southern Plains, creating rain that extends over parts of the Southern Plains and expands into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley by Monday morning.
