A front extending from the Great Lakes to the Western Gulf Coast will slowly move off the Eastern Seaboard by Monday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front over parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley to the Central Gulf Coast, with some thunderstorms becoming severe. Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Southern Ohio and Tennessee Valleys through Sunday morning. The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes. Additionally, snow will develop over the northwest portion of the storms over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes from Saturday evening into Sunday evening. In addition, light snow will linger over parts of the Great Lakes on Monday. Moreover, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will pool along the boundary on Sunday, producing heavy rain over parts of the Northeast. Therefore, the WPC issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over New England from Sunday into Monday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. In addition, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front over parts of the Mid-Atlantic to the Southeast and Central Gulf Coast. Also, on Sunday, as cold air moves over the Northeast, Heavy snow will develop over parts of the higher elevations of New York State and Northern New England from Sunday evening into Monday. Meanwhile, a front will move onshore over the Pacific Northwest Saturday evening into Sunday. Ahead of the front, a plume of moisture will stream into the Northwest on Saturday into Sunday. The moisture streaming inland will produce rain and high-elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest through Sunday and snow over the Northern Intermountain Region from Saturday evening into Sunday. The moisture will also produce heavy rain over parts of the Northwest on Saturday. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Pacific Northwest into Sunday morning. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, and small streams the most vulnerable. On Monday, light snow will linger over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region into the Northern Rockies, while light rain will continue over parts of the Pacific Northwest.
