In the wake of the East Coast storm, lake-effect snow will develop downwind from the Great Lakes through Wednesday. The heaviest snow will be downwind from Lake Ontario on Tuesday. Further, a front extending from the Upper Mississippi Valley to the Central Rockies will move eastward to the Northeast Coast by Wednesday. The weak front will produce lake-enhanced snow over Lake Superior and adjacent lakeshore through Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over the Northwest will move southeastward to the Southwest, developing an upper-level low by Wednesday afternoon. The energy will trigger light snow over the Northern/Central Rockies through Wednesday morning. Light snow will develop on Wednesday over parts of the Central/Southern Rockies. Moreover, high pressure over the Lower Mississippi Valley moves eastward to the Southeast by Tuesday evening. On the west side of the high, moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will start to stream northward over the Southern Plains, producing light rain over parts of the Western Gulf Coast/Southern Plains overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. In addition, circulation around the developing upper-level low will aid in drawing more moisture for the Gulf of Mexico, which will increase the rain over the Southern Plains on Wednesday.
