A low pressures system departing from the Northeast and into the Canadian maritime will continue to produce heavy snow and gusty winds across portions of northern Maine today, where Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings are in effect. Some light snow is also likely for the Green and White Mountains of New England this weekend. Light Lake effect snow continues to spread downwind of the Lower Great Lakes and Adirondacks due to northwesterly flow in the wake of a cold front. A tight pressure gradient over the Northeast will also promote the potential for high wind impacts today. A southern stream wave will continue to produce a swath of moderate to heavy snow across portions of Wyoming, Nebraska and Iowa, where Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect through this afternoon. It will continue to spread light rain and snow across the Midwest, Central Appalachians and into the Mid-Atlantic this afternoon and evening. The attendant cold front pushing through the West and Great Plains will usher in a cooler airmass. Eastern New Mexico into northern Texas and much of Oklahoma will experience high temperatures between 15-30 degrees below average on Saturday. Another low pressure system will spin up over central Texas on Saturday and quickly move across the Gulf Coast, where it'll spread scattered showers and thunderstorms. Flash Flooding and Severe Thunderstorm concerns remain Marginal at this time due, in part, to the progressive nature of the system.
