Low pressure south of New England over the Atlantic will slowly move northeastward along the Northeast Coast into Southeastern Canada by Monday. The system will produce light rain from the northern Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast through Sunday afternoon. Light to moderate snow will also develop over parts of Northern Maine through Sunday afternoon, with coastal and lowerâ€elevation rain. Light snow will continue over parts of Northern New England through Monday. Meanwhile, a front extending from the Upper Mississippi Valley roughly southwestward to the Great Basin will move eastward to the Lower Great Lakes/Central Appalachians and then southwestward to the Lower Mississippi Valley/Southern Plains by Monday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley and Upper Great Lakes into early Monday morning. Moreover, light to moderate snow will develop over parts of the Northern Rockies from Saturday evening into Sunday afternoon. The light to moderate snow will move into the Northern Plains early Monday morning and expand into the Upper Mississippi Valley and Upper Great Lakes on Monday. Furthermore, showers and severe thunderstorms move into the Ohio Valley/Central Appalachians on Monday. Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley/Central Appalachians on Monday. The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes. General showers and thunderstorms will extend from parts of the Middle Mississippi /Tennessee Valleys into parts of the Mid-Atlantic on Monday. In the meantime, as the boundary moves into the Central Rockies, higher-elevation snow and rain will develop over parts of the region from Sunday evening into Monday morning. Further, gusty winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels will contribute to a Critical Risk of fire weather over parts of the Southern High Plains on Saturday.
